Central Ohio's would be fuhrer, Andrew Anglin, is often quick to plead persecution and beg for money from his followers. Attempts to cut him off from his father's so-called Christian Counseling center as a mail drop and check cashing front by the local antifascist group Anti-Racist Action have forced him to switch mail addresses.
Hundreds of local residents gathered in Goodale park yesterday, August 14th, to express their sorrow and outrage over the death of 32 year old Heather Heyer and the wounding of 19 other anti-fascist protestors at the neo-nazi rally held in Charlottesville Saturday.
Two days ago, on August 1st, Clintonville residents awoke to racist fliers and business cards, in bags with peppermints, in their yards and mailboxes. They were shocked. Further anecdotal discussion on social media indicates that the homes of non-white residents were targeted specifically. The mainstream media, led by channel 4, got their ratings boost as anchorwomen clutched their pearls.
Donald Trump is demanding voting records from every state and being refused. His presidential commission on “voter fraud” is an obvious attempt a legalized and systematic voter suppression. Voter fraud, where someone votes twice or under another person's name, rarely actually happens. In terms of having a material effect on elections it is a statistical non-entity. Trump's efforts are clearly aimed at creating more hurdles and keeping more people from the polls.
Since the public outing of Neo-Nazi leader Andrew Anglin's mail drop on the 15th of last month, a great deal has been going on behind the scenes and in the back alleys of Columbus's white supremacist underground. Despite assurances from the FBI to people who have been threatened by Anglin and members of his neo-nazi website the Daily Stormer that he is overseas, likely in Germany, he has surfaced in Columbus Ohio on unknown business.
Given a few decades even Neo-Nazis can learn branding. Just as Trump has re-branded himself from Howard Stern's whipping boy to Twit-in-chief (tweeter-in-chief?) of the United States, the Neo-Nazi movement has re-branded itself as the “Alt-Right.” This makes their younger followers feel more hip than having to affect a 1920s clothing line or dancing around in their mother's curtains. Fascism in all countries has always sloppily combined an imagined mythic past with visions of an imagined mythic future while parroting endless lies about the present.
