Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani stepped off his aircraft at the Baghdad international airport to attend a diplomatic meeting with Iraqi government officials. A moment later he was dead, killed in a drone strike. General Soleimani was the leader of the Iranian Quds force, which the United States considers a terrorist organization but is an arm of their military akin to our special forces, tasked with carrying out light infantry and irregular warfare in conjunction with foreign troops and non-state actors.

Greenland is a place that you do not want to be unless you are from there. The obvious problem is cold. If one has read Jared Diamond's Collapse, one knows that Greenland is one of the few places on Earth that Europeans failed to succeed in colonizing, and finally failed at even surviving in. The status of the 56,000 mostly indigenous people who live there as Danish Citizens of an autonomous region make it unique in the world. This why the world got a unique laugh when Donald Trump offered to buy it from Denmark. The Danes were perplexed.
A small uproar happened yesterday, October 20th, as President Trump announced that he intended to withdraw the United States from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty signed by Reagan and Gorbachev in 1987 as the cold war wound down with a whimper. Airports in Washington DC, New York, Chicago, Denver, Columbus, Seattle-Tacoma, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Dallas saw protests against Trump's recent executive order on the immigration status of Muslims from seven countries. The protests ranged in size from a reported 700 in Los Angeles to over 5000 at New York's JFK.
